The Oscar Ultimate is a new generation tilt-compensated GNSS receiver with a high-precision inertial measurement unit (IMU). Such calibration-free tilt compensation is immune to magnetic interference. Oscar Ultimate gives the meter unprecedented flexibility and efficiency – keeping a measuring stick upright is no longer necessary, with an accuracy of <2 cm at an angle of up to 60 degrees. There are three versions of Oscar GNSS receivers: Basic, Advanced and Ultimate. All Oscar receivers have 576 channels and use all major satellite positioning systems (GPS L1 C / A, L2C, L2P, L5, GLONASS L1 C / A, L2 C / A, BeiDou B1, B2, B3, BDS-3, Galileo E1 , E5a, E5b, QZSS L1 C / A, L2C, L5). The Oscar GNSS receiver provides a highly accurate and stable signal with internal high-performance multi-frequency GNSS receiver electronics. Oscar receivers can be used as both RTK measurement receivers (Rover) and base stations (base). In base station operation, the correction data can be sent directly to the receivers via the internal UHF radio modem or via the 4G modem to the Tersus servers, free of charge. When delivered through a server, one base station may serve ten (10) receivers, or rovers.
The built-in high-performance antenna shortens the time of the first RTK correction (TTFF) and improves interference suppression. The Oscar-equipped Nano-SIM card accesses the Internet and sends and receives repair data over a 4G or WiFi network. The built-in UHF radio module (410-470MHz) is also available to receive or send correction data. The built-in high-capacity battery is removable and shows the battery charge itself on the LED display. Together, these two batteries allow up to 16 hours of field work in 4G / 3G / 2G and Rover radio mode. The Oscar can also be easily configured on the device’s own 1.54-inch interactive display (Ultimate and Advanced versions). The durable housing protects the device from harsh environments (IP68, ie waterproof and dustproof).
The Oscar receiver can be used for measurements on Tersus ’own Android-based smartphone TC20 or TC50, or on virtually any modern Android phone. The program can be either Tersus’ own Nuwa program (free) or some other Android-based program such as Aplitop TcpGPS. The Tersus TC20 controller is a rugged smartphone with a 4.3-inch touch screen and alphanumeric keypad. The TC50 has a 5-inch touch screen, a more powerful processor and more memory. Both devices are fully compatible with Tersus NUWA software. Thanks to the professional IP68 rating, they are durable and reliable in harsh operating conditions. The NUWA software has Finnish coordinate and altitude systems and a Finnish version is coming soon.
Customers also have easy backup from the Tersus Caster Server (TCS), so the GNSS base station can be quickly configured to send repair data over the mobile network instead of the radio. Supported by FieldGenius and Nuwa, the Oscar can be configured for different workspaces to suit different daily jobs. Supported by the rapid technical support of Tersus’ global partner network, the Oscar GNSS receiver is a skilled and reliable partner.
Tersus is a company founded in 2014 with offices in the USA, Taiwan and Australia. It is one of the world’s six manufacturers of GNSS receivers that design satellite receiver circuits themselves.
